Superintendent Welcome

As the superintendent, I am proud to introduce you to our wonderful district. At UCSD, we are dedicated to fostering a nurturing and inclusive educational environment that empowers every student to achieve their full potential. Serving over 4,000 students across seven schools in Urbandale, Iowa, our commitment to excellence is evident in our comprehensive K–12 curriculum, dedicated educators, and supportive families. We value strong partnerships with families, businesses, and community organizations. Together, we help students feel a sense of connection and see the relevance in their learning inside and outside the classroom. 

Our District encompasses four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school—home of the J-Hawks—where academic rigor meets a rich array of extracurricular opportunities, including competitive athletics and performing arts programs. We also offer early childhood education, a robust community education program, before and after school child care through Adventuretime and alternative learning pathways at Metro West Learning Academy.
