Urbandale’s English Learner (EL) program plays an important role in ensuring that multilingual students have equitable access to high-quality instruction and the support they need to learn, grow and succeed. The program provides targeted language development instruction and collaborates closely with general education teachers to support differentiation and inclusive classroom practices. Our EL teachers work directly with students to build language proficiency while also helping to scaffold grade-level content learning.
The EL Team works in partnership with families, school staff, and community members to create a welcoming and supportive environment for English Learners. This collaboration is done alongside on-staff interpreters who serve as essential liaisons between families and schools, helping to foster trust, communication, and understanding. By working closely with staff and stakeholders, the EL program ensures that English Learners’ unique needs are met—empowering students to succeed academically and thrive socially, all while upholding our mission to teach all and reach all.
Please visit our Extended Learning Program page. Stephanie Davis, Director of Student Services, is the district administrator for the Extended Learning Program. Contact: daviss@urbandaleschools.com.staging3.juiceboxint.com or 515-457-5025.
